Painting Communal Stairs
When you live in a flat it is often the case that you are one of many flats that use the same shared entrance and a common staircase that services multiple owners and tenants in the block.
Painting these areas is often a challenge as they have high ceilings, stone or concrete walls, stone or wooden flooring, windows, metal balustrades and wooden bannisters. There is not one paint that does all of these surfaces!
A second challenge is the throughput of people using the area and it is important that not only is it to have it looking nice once finished but a few months later that the paint applied was durable and takes the inevitable bumps, knocks and scrapes that cannot be avoided in such an area, and still looks nice.
We often get asked about the difference between DIY and employing a professional painter but when painting a communal area the argument for a professional painter is even more compelling. In the first instance it removes any of the arguments based around “well I could have done a better job” and also the consideration of what happens if someone falls, trips or spills.
It may involve a bit of work in advance agreeing with the neighbours on what, when and how much you are collectively prepared to pay but it is important to ensure you get the right quote and completed service. Once agreed, it is a case of handing over to a professional to complete the job, to the standard and specification for the price quoted.
Same quality from top to bottom!
At Borthwick Decorators we work across Central Scotland and all the major towns and cities have flats with communal stairs.
If you have a Communal Stair in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Stirling or further afield please do not hesitate to contact us to provide you with a quote.
We will agree a convenient time to do a site survey and meet with you and the neighbours available to discuss the scope of the work, colour schemes and most importantly answer any questions or concerns you or they might have. We can provide written quotations and options that can be discussed and queried before you engage our services. Once the work is complete we will agree with you and others available that the work has concluded to your satisfaction.
Borthwick Decorators are fully insured and members of the Scottish Decorators Federation and also the Painting & Decorators Association which is important to both us and you. Membership of these organisations are based on us agreeing to professionally complete all works to an appropriate standard and quality.
